courses:


Unarmed Security Officer (16-hours)


This is the required introductory security course that provides the security officer training necessary to work legally as an unarmed security officer in the State of North Carolina. North Carolina Private Protective Services Board (NCPPSB) will issue a license that will allow Students to begin working as a security guard upon completion of this course and successfully submitting the proper State application and required forms. The training topics covered are North Carolina Chapter 74C, Legal Issues and Liabilities, Emergency Response, Communications, Field Note Taking, Report Writing and Deportment.


Armed Security Officer (20-hour)


This is the required security course that provides the security officer training necessary to work legally as an armed security guard in the State of North Carolina. North Carolina Private Protective Services Board (NCPPSB) will issue a license that will allow Students to begin working as a security guard upon completion of this course and successfully submitting the proper State application and required forms. The training topics covered are Legal Limitations, Rules & Regulations Relating to Armed Security Officers, Handgun Safety, Handgun Operation & Maintenance, Handgun Fundamentals, Day / Night Firing.


Armed Security Officer Shotgun Course (4-hour)


This is the required security course that provides the security officer training necessary to legally operate a shotgun as an armed security guard in the State of North Carolina. North Carolina Private Protective Services Board (NCPPSB) will issue a license that will allow Students to begin working as a security guard upon completion of this course and successfully submitting the proper State application and required forms. The training topics covered are safe handling and storage, operation of the shotgun, conditions of readiness, empty gun reload, tactical reloading, clearing weapon malfunctions, methods of carry and deployment (use of the sling), transition from shotgun to handgun, methods of deployment (ready positions), administrative carry, injured techniques, position shooting, use of cover/ concealment and maintenance of the shotgun. A mandatory firing range qualification will be conducted (20 rounds of target loads (skeet, trap, or birdshot), 20 rounds of buckshot and 20 shotgun slugs).


*Must have completed Armed Security Guard Training or already be licensed as an armed security guard within the State of North Carolina.


Concealed Handgun Certification (8-hour)


This is the required course that provides individual firearms training necessary to legally obtain a carry concealed handgun permit in the State of North Carolina. The course covers laws governing the use of deadly force, concealed carry statute, & other relevant issues. The course also covers the fundamentals of weapon system operation, personal protection with the use of a handgun, handgun safety and retention, ammunition, and shooting techniques. A mandatory firing range qualification will be conducted (30 rounds within 3, 5, & 7 yards). The course includes recent legislative changes that went into effect December 1, 2011. 


*Must be a North Carolina resident for 30 days and 21 years of age to qualify for CCH permit in the State of North Carolina..

First Aid and CPR / AED Certification (American Red Cross) (8 hour)


This course will prepare the student to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. Through an instructor-led classroom skill session the student will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skill competency required for certification. Upon successful completion of this course the student will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.


Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Aerosol / Pepper Spray Certification (4-hour)


The Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Aerosol / Pepper Spray Course consist of 4 hours of comprehensive training. The program will provide each student with detailed information involved in the use of all types and forms of Oleoresin Capsicum aerosol projectors. This 4-hour course covers all aspects involved in the selection, preparation, deployment, storage, and legal ramifications regarding the use of all OC products. The student will also acquire specific information in Defense Technology® OC products, including all formulations, blends and spray patterns, along with the skills necessary to deploy OC products efficiently and effectively.


Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Aerosol / Pepper Spray Certification (4-hour)


The Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Aerosol / Pepper Spray Course consist of 4 hours of comprehensive training. The program will provide each student with detailed information involved in the use of all types and forms of Oleoresin Capsicum aerosol projectors. This 4-hour course covers all aspects involved in the selection, preparation, deployment, storage, and legal ramifications regarding the use of all OC products. The student will also acquire specific information in Defense Technology® OC products, including all formulations, blends and spray patterns, along with the skills necessary to deploy OC products efficiently and effectively.


ASP Expandable Baton Certification (8-hour)


The ASP Expandable Baton Course consists of 8 hours of comprehensive training. This program is used in 81 countries throughout the world. The course is specifically designed for Law Enforcement, Security Officers, and other industry professionals. All techniques taught work on the street and not just in the classroom. They are court defensible and backed by the nation’s most experienced use of force consultants. The course is meant to provide the student with an understanding of the conditions in which the baton may be used, justification for use, and how to document these actions. The course goes into great depth on Portation (Carrying), Presentation (Drawing), Striking techniques, Mechanical function, and Maintenance.


Taser and Electronic Control Device (ECD) Certification (4-hour)


During this course, the student will learn about the care, use, and maintenance of the M26, X26c, and C2 Tasers. In addition, the student will fire one cartridge from an X26c Taser. This course will also qualify the student to use, carry, or maintain a number of commercially available electronically controlled devices. At the course conclusion, the student will take a final exam testing the concepts they have learned during training.


ASP Tactical Handcuff Certification (4-hour)


The ASP Tactical Handcuff Course consists of 4 hours of comprehensive training. This program is used in 81 countries throughout the world. The course is specifically designed for Law Enforcement, Security Officers, and other industry professionals. All techniques taught work on the street and not just in the classroom. The techniques taught in this course are court defensible and backed by the nation’s most experienced use of force consultants. This course is meant to provide the end user with a clear understanding of the conditions in which restraints may be used, justification for use, and how to document these actions. The ASP Tactical Handcuffing Course goes into great depth on Portation (Carrying), Presentation (Drawing), and Handcuff application techniques.


Nightclub Security Officer Course (8-hour)


The Nightclub Security Officer Course was designed for bar and nightclub employees who play a role in maintaining safety and security. Long overdue, this course provides essential conflict management skills necessary to diffuse potentially dangerous or violent situations that occur in the entertainment business. Employees will learn a practical disturbance response continuum which dictates their response to such situations. This course can greatly enhance credibility and reduce liability. Course certificates shall be issued upon course completion.


NRA Basic Pistol (8-hour)


The NRA Basic Pistol course is designed to give first time shooters a wealth of knowledge in the safe and proper use of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Topics included in this one day course include: fundamental safety rules, shooting stances, firing grips, firearm upkeep, ammunition selection, and other essential skills. Students completing this course will receive a certificate from the NRA in addition to printed materials useful for future studying.


NRA Law Enforcement Pistol (Agency Specific)


The NRA Law Enforcement Pistol course is designed to teach law enforcement officers how to use their sidearm in a safe and effective manner and to sharpen the officer's existing skill base. The course curriculum covers the following topics: Marksmanship fundamentals, Drawstroke refinement, Target areas, Shoot/No-shoot decision making, Shooting on the move, Malfunction clearance, Injured officer drills and Use of cover and concealment. This course is highly customizable and is taught to suit the needs of the class host. The course can range from a one day "skill refresher" course to a comprehensive week long "handgun operator" course. We can also cover undercover officer skills if desired.


Defensive Handgun I (8-hour)


The Defensive Handgun course is taught using the Vickers Shooting Method and will expose students to proper handgun manipulations, marksmanship fundamentals and tactics using minimal classroom time and extensive live fire exercises. This course will provide concerned citizens with the skills and tactics necessary to gain a significant advantage over aggressive attackers during life-threatening encounters


Defensive Handgun II (16-hour)


Defensive Handgun II seamlessly picks up where Defensive Handgun I ends. Students will receive training that further refines their marksmanship fundamentals and introduces new skills. The course curriculum covers the following topics: shooting on the move, multiple target engagement, shoot/no-shoot decision making, and the proper use of cover.


Defensive Handgun: One Hand Operation (8-hour)


The Defensive Handgun – One Hand Operation course focuses on increasing the student’s ability to effectively operate his handgun using only one hand. This course will enable the student to draw, reload, engage threats, and do other tasks using the only one hand. The material taught will cover weapon manipulation using only the dominant and support hands.


*Completion of Defensive Handgun I or equivalent.


Defensive Handgun - SOTM (8-hour)


The Shooting on the Move course focuses on increasing the student's ability to effectively use a handgun during defensive situations while moving. Material to be covered includes: forward/rearward/lateral movement, clearing malfunctions on the move, use of cover, weapon transitions, and multiple target engagement.


Lowlight Handgun (8-hour)


The Lowlight Handgun course is designed to provide each student with the core skills needed to properly use the carbine in a safe and effective manner while operating in lowlight defensive situations with a handgun. The course curriculum covers the following topics: principles of lowlight operations, handheld lighting techniques, weapon-mounted lighting techniques, marksmanship fundamentals, shoot/no shoot decision making, team tactics, and extensive shooting drills at various distances in a lowlight environment.


General Purpose Rifle (16-hour)


General Purpose Rifle (GPR) course is designed to teach students how to effectively use general purpose, utility type rifles to resolve defensive encounters. Rifles of this type are often limited in magazine capacity, but are still capable of quickly bringing an end to hostile actions. Material to be covered includes: marksmanship fundamentals, shooting positions, shooting on the move, use of cover, and weapon transitions. Rifles suited for this course are lever action rifles, lightweight bolt action rifles (typically in a scout format), and single shot rifles. Semi auto rifles such as the AR15, AK47, and M1A are better suited for our Defensive Carbine course. Shotguns are permitted for this course; however only slugs may be used.


NRA Basic Rifle (8-hour)


The NRA Basic Rifle course is designed to give first time shooters a wealth of knowledge in the safe and proper use of single shot, bolt action, and semi-automatic rifles. Topics included in this one day course include: fundamental safety rules, shooting stances, firing grips, firearm upkeep, ammunition selection, and other essential skills. Students completing this course will receive a certificate from the NRA in addition to printed materials useful for future reference.


NRA Law Enforcement Patrol Rifle (Agency Specific)


The NRA Law Enforcement Patrol Rifle course is designed to teach law enforcement officers how to use their patrol rifles in a safe and effective manner and to sharpen the officer's existing skill base with one of the capable tools in law enforcement. The course curriculum covers the following topics: Optics, Accessories, Target areas, Shoot/No-shoot decision making, Shooting on the move, Malfunction clearance and Use of cover and concealment. This course is highly customizable and is taught to suit the needs of the class host. The course can range from a one day "skill refresher" course to a comprehensive week long "carbine operator" course.


Basic Carbine (8-hour)


The Basic Carbine course is designed to provide each student with the core skills needed to properly use the carbine in a safe and effective manner in defensive situations. The course is taught using the Vickers Shooting Method and covers the following topics: marksmanship fundamentals, carbine manipulations, and extensive shooting drills at various distances using several shooting positions.


Defensive Carbine (16-hour)


The Defensive Carbine course is designed to provide each student with the skills needed to properly use and maintain the carbine in a safe and effective manner in defensive situations. The course curriculum covers the following topics: marksmanship fundamentals (sight alignment, sight picture, trigger manipulation, zeroing of sights), carbine manipulation (loading, unloading, and malfunction clearance), shooting on the move, use of cover and concealment and extensive shooting drills at various distances using several shooting positions.


Defensive Carbine II (16-hour)


Defensive Carbine II seamlessly picks up where Defensive Carbine I ends. Students will receive training that further refines their marksmanship fundamentals and introduces new skills. Material to be covered includes: shooting and malfunction clearance on the move, multiple target engagement, shoot/no-shoot decision making, weapon transitions, and the proper use of cover.


Defensive Carbine – SOTM (8-hour)


The Shooting on the Move course focuses on increasing the student's ability to effectively use a carbine and handgun during defensive situations while moving. Material to be covered includes: forward/rearward/lateral movement, clearing malfunctions on the move, use of cover, weapon transitions, and multiple target engagement.


Lowlight Carbine (8-hour)


The Lowlight Carbine course is designed to provide each student with the core skills needed to properly use the carbine in a safe and effective manner while operating in lowlight defensive situations with a carbine. The course curriculum covers the following topics: principles of lowlight operations, handheld lighting techniques, weapon-mounted lighting techniques, marksmanship fundamentals, shoot/no shoot decision making, team tactics, and extensive shooting drills at various distances in a lowlight environment.


Bail Enforcement / Fugitive Recovery Agent Training

This comprehensive course contains instruction to assist each student to succeed as a Bail Enforcement / Fugitive Recovery Agent. The course curriculum includes: Legal Update, Gang Awareness, Drug Identification & Recognition, Crowd Control, Forcible Entries, Room Clearing, Building Searches, Door/Window Breaches, Prisoner Transports, Detentions & Lock-up, Firearms (i.e. Low Light Penetration, Weapons Handling, Weapons Disarmament, Tactical Movement and Tactical Firing), Field Interviewing, Skip Tracing, Case Management, Use of Force, Less Lethal Force (i.e. Collapsible Baton, OC Spray, Taser), Tactical Handcuffing, Pat Downs, Physical / Technical Surveillance, Mock Drills, Tactical Take Downs and Close Quarters Combat (CQB).


Crime Prevention Seminars


Professionally presented training on such topics as robbery prevention, shoplifting detection, and personal protection can be delivered to your employees on-site to decrease your losses and increase their awareness.


Anti-Terrorism Training


Being a victim of terrorism is a valid concern to many people today. We provide current information on terrorist trends, anticipated risks and ways to protect your employees and property. The training is conducted on-site and includes a site assessment of your facility.


Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention Seminars


OPSEC International Training Institute (OITI) is dedicated to providing comprehensive domestic violence training and support group leadership, as well as domestic violence task force consultation. In addition to guest speaking engagements and special workshops, OITI offers professional seminars for individuals, churches, and organizations. These seminars focus on discussing current legal issues, what to do if someone is being abused, how to obtain a restraining order and prevention measures to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of domestic abuse.


Workplace Violence Prevention Seminars


This Workplace Violence Prevention Seminar was designed to help prevent instances of violence in your workplace. The seminar provides guidelines to assist you in managing your risk and avoid liability for any incidents of violence that may occur.
